Devin's Story
I have to start Devin's Bio by saying this is the dog of my heart. Everyone has that very special dog that touches you a little different then the rest. They seem to know if you are upset or happy and it even goes beyond that. I was cautioned in articles & by breeders about potential dog aggression, possessiveness, independence & dominance of the German Pinscher. For this reason I did not get one many years ago when I first started looking at the breed. For some reason every couple years I would come back to looking seriously at this breed. I was definitely drawn to them. It became my goal to find a bloodline that was working on breeding German Pinschers with a more livable temperament. After speaking with several breeders about their dogs and temperaments I stumbled on Kimberle Shiff of Oakwood Kennels in New York. Kimberle was working with bloodlines that coexisted in the same house peacefully. They still maintain the drive to protect you, their home and to chase squirrels in the yard, but not a drive to kill each other. I spoke with other Kennels with the same bloodline and they all had multiple dogs living peacefully together . I then decided this was the kind of dog & temperament I wanted. After waiting a year on Kim's waiting list Devin finally arrived. It was love at first site. This dog was special and I knew it! She has lived up to every hope and dream I have had for the breed and my first German Pinscher. She has been my very best companion (sleeps in my bed!) and a very successful show dog as well.
Beyond being my perfect companion dog Devin has had more then her share of success on the show ring! Devin's show career started off the weekend she turned 6 months old with a Best of Breed win over adult competition for her 1st point. Things only got more exciting form there..... highlights include a Breed win out of the classes over a top ranked special at just 1 year of age, a Best in Match win at an all breed AKC sanctioned match, and she finished her AKC Championship with a big bang winning 3 majors in a row!!! All of this at just over 1 year of age!!! A HUGE Thanks to Devin's Breeder/Coowner Kim Schiff who showed Devin to her major wins. Devin finishes 2006 as a top 20 German Pinscher with very limited showing!
